Ground rules and functions in the classroom…

Some ground rules and tips for making our training work really well

Haver your camera on during the training. Seeing faces on each other makes it a much nicer and more present experience. When we are no longer seen in a physical classroom, it is difficult to create a sense of presence and belonging. It is also difficult for me as a facilitator to capture reactions and see that everyone is involved

If you have background noise, turn off the microphone when you are not talking. There can be a lot of background noise when everyone has a microphone on, if you know you are in a quiet room you can have your microphone on. I want you to be able to contribute as much as possible in discussions and then a suspended mic can be an obstacle.

Do you want to ask questions? Write them directly in the chat, so you don´t forget them. Your question may not be answered immediately, but if it is written down, we can easily go back to it when a gap is given.

Tools we will use during the training

In zoom there are a couple of functions we will use during the training. Below you will get a short introduction to them.

 Breakout Rooms

When we have group discussions or are going to work in groups, we will use so-called "breakout rooms". They are a kind of virtual group room where you are divided into smaller groups and then have your own video meeting with your own chat.

 Chat

The chat is always available to ask questions or share your own experiences. I really encourage you to write as soon as you have any questions or want to share your thoughts. We will try to use the chat a lot.

An advantage of the virtual classroom is also that you can send questions directly to me. For example, if you have questions that you do not think others benefit from getting answers to, or do not want others to read, then you can send them directly to me and I will try to help you!

5 practical things before we meet

Below you will find tips on some practical things that can make a big difference when we meet.

 1. Choose a place where you know you have a good internet connection

Virtual meetings stand and fall with one's internet connection. Therefore, be sure to test out before where you are going to sit. Below you can read more about how you can test speed in different places.

2. Choose a place where you have the light from the front

Just like when you take a picture in backlight, the subject is rarely good if you have light in from the side or from behind. It is therefore best to choose a place where you have the light in front of you, for example when you are sitting with your face against a window.

 3. Use a headset if you have one

The sound is better and the risk of rounding is reduced if we use headsets. Therefore, if you have one, we encourage you to use it.

 4. Sit alone behind the computer in your own room

Sometimes it is tempting to sit two people behind a computer if you are in the same place. However, this does not work well when we use the virtual functions. We therefore want you to each have a computer in each room, even if you are more than one who participates in the same education.

 5. Test the internet before our meeting

Make sure the internet will really work. Test by running a video call with a friend or colleague before so you know it will go well. In general, connection with cable is always best, but otherwise as close to your wifi puck as possible.

If you have any questions…

I look forward to seeing you at the training and if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me directly.
